Neurological and neurourological complications of electrical injuries

Electrical injury can affect any system and organ. Central nervous (CNS) complications are especially well recognised, causing an increased risk of morbidity, while peripheral (PNS) complications, neurourological cognitive psychological abnormalities less predictable after electrical injuries. PubMed was searched for English language clinical observational, retrospective, review case studies published in the last 30 years using key words: injury, electrocution, sequelae, neurological, cognitive, psychological, urological, neuropsychological, neurourological, neurogenic, bladder. In this review, broad spectrum consequences trauma discussed, features characteristic underlying or disorder identified. The latest information about most recently discovered forms disorders secondary to trauma, such as presentation neurological sequelae other words long-term presented. Unexpected central muscular hydrocephalus, brain venous thrombosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis described. Common uncommon neuropsychological syndromes defined.
